SmartSearch (within Q&A)
SmartSearch allows you to express your Q&A search term in the form of the natural language question that you are trying to answer.
This Q&A search function combines traditional keyword matching with semantic search powered by word embeddings, which produces more relevant results for your query.
You have the option to toggle off SmartSearch if you wish to use the traditional search function.
In both searches, you can click the (i) in the search bar for search tips.

News
On the News tab, our News service keeps you up-to-date. News Features include insights from leading counsel on the latest case law.
Daily Briefings are also sent straight to your inbox. These quick-read updates keep you on top of developments. These updates go live on the News page in real-time and our archive is fully searchable.
Documents (Corporate Knowledge)
The Documents tab provides high-quality corporate legal precedent documents for subscribers to download and use in Word, with complete drafting notes.
The Documents tiles correspond to the same headings as those seen in the Q&A.
Your subscription can be upgraded to include access to automated, dynamic document suites, where a single change will update throughout all related documents.

Markets (Corporate Knowledge)
FromCounsel Markets provides deal information, analytics and expert commentary in relation to public company transactions and related matters.
The service covers IPOs and Secondary Offers (AIM and Main Market), and UK public M&A. Profiles give deal information and access to deal documents.
Our analytics dashboard enables you to stay up to date with current deal trends. Our comparison tool allows you to compare deals using comparison parameters and build a downloadable table.

Sharing and saving tools
You can select the content you want to share or save, to email, print, or download it with ease. Just click on the check box, top right, in Q&A, News, Legislation and Documents.
When sharing a link, you must click on the share icon, then click on the paperclip icon and wait for the turquoise box to disappear - this tells you that the link to your bespoke selection is now created and ready to share.
In order to download documents, you must click on the download arrow next to the use box.

Annotations
Annotations can be activated by contacting your account manager and requires single sign-on (SSO) to be in place.
FromCounsel’s advanced annotations tool allows users to add secure annotations to our Q&A and Legislation, including links to firm precedents and other internal know-how. Individuals can add private annotations, and designated 'super users' can add annotations visible to the whole firm.

Access using your PIN
If your firm uses single sign-on (SSO), you can access FromCounsel outside your firm's network by using your PIN. To log in using your PIN, go to www.fromcounsel.com. After clicking on 'Sign In', click the link, 'To log in using your PIN, click here', then enter your work email and your PIN.
Your PIN will not work as your password - you must go to the PIN login. We recommend you make a note of your PIN as you can only view it when logged into the service.
