Knowledge Lawyer – Corporate Documents

FromCounsel is looking for a top quality Corporate lawyer to join its Content Team as a Knowledge Lawyer to focus on the production, maintenance and development of our extensive library of corporate precedents and related resources.

Developed by leading barristers from Erskine Chambers and a team of experienced corporate professional support lawyers from City law firms, FromCounsel provides a wealth of practical, in-depth, ready-made answers to the crucial questions facing practitioners in their day-to-day work and an extensive library of precedent documents and practical resources which are fully supported by in-depth explanatory notes and guidance . Our aim is to make our legal Q&A content and our documents more comprehensive, more insightful, more accessible, more searchable and more sharable than anyone else in the market. With well over 100 subscribers including leading law firms (from the magic circle to regional teams) and in-house legal functions, we are looking to build out our established Corporate Law service into other areas, products and services.

The opportunity

The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing our corporate service and expanding it into other products, alongside expert barristers, our talented team of experienced in-house PSLs and our excellent legal editorial team.

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Corporate, you will be responsible for writing, reviewing and editing first class documents and related resources for FromCounsel. This is a varied and interesting role with significant scope to input into the further development and enhancement of the corporate documents service and its interaction with other content streams.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Maintaining, scoping, writing, reviewing, editing, enhancing, organising and expanding FromCounsel’s extensive library of precedents, drafting notes and practical resources.
  • Developing and testing new and existing documents services and initiatives such as document automation, workflows and AI developments
  • Co-ordinating and working in close collaboration with colleagues, editors, barristers and external experts, specialists and other service providers
  • Working with the Documents team, the Corporate PSL team and the Head of Content on project plans, schedules and reports
  • Supporting customer engagement, including by responding to subscribers’ queries, taking part in subscriber training and assessing customer needs
  • Maintaining and developing own expertise, keeping up to date with legal and market developments and researching sources to identify matters relevant to subscribers
  • Liaising with our Development Team on technical solutions and enhancements to our site for the service

Qualifications

This role is open to both existing PSLs and fee-earners looking to move to their first PSL role. Together with strong technical corporate law knowledge, candidates should have at least 5 years’ PQE and broad experience within the corporate team of a UK law firm.

Key requirements

Alongside strong legal experience, a demonstrable aptitude for drafting high quality, straightforward legal documents and a genuine interest in staying on top of legal and market developments, is essential.

Candidates should be focused, efficient and confident in working on their own initiative to deadlines. At the same time, they should enjoy working as part of a team, collaborating with other PSLs and barristers to ensure content meets FromCounsel’s premium standards.
