Auto-save

Every time a new questionnaire is launched it will auto-save into your ‘Your Questionnaires’ folder on the FC Documents portal. From here it can be renamed and moved into your own folder structure as required. Questionnaires autosave whenever a change is made within them and can be returned to as many times as you need to (to update or amend your responses).

The draft documents generated from the questionnaire can be downloaded in a Zip file (or shared via email) in fully editable MS Word format.  

After download you can return to your questionnaire at any time to update, amend or draft additional documents for download. These will not include changes made to the documents outside of the FC Documents platform. 

House Style

We can push the content of the documents generated from our questionnaires into your Word templates.  The styles, headers and footers will be your own.

Do I have to answer every question in a questionnaire in order to generate the documents?

No, documents can be generated if not all of the questions have been answered. However, leaving a question unanswered may result in: 

  • a placeholder being included in the relevant document(s) (for example, if the date, time or location of a meeting is left blank because it is currently unknown); 
  • gaps in drafting; or  
  • wording for all possible answers being included in the documents by default, 

requiring you to complete or update the document manually after download.  

 Some questions are fundamental to generating documents. We therefore recommend that you answer as many questions as possible before downloading the documents.  

If I complete the questionnaire fully before downloading the documents, will my documents be in final form?

No, the FC Documents automation generates suites of draft documents. These can be downloaded with or without footnote guidance but should always be carefully reviewed and tailored to each particular matter, as required.  

 Some draft documents will, on download, contain placeholders or drafting optionality in square brackets where we do not consider it efficient or appropriate to automate that provision. This may include, for example, where the information is only required once throughout a suite.  

Can I print the documents I create?

Yes. Once you have downloaded or emailed the documents you will be able to print them from MS Word.

Can I replicate an existing, populated questionnaire to save time?

Yes, it is possible to replicate an existing questionnaire by making a “copy”. The copy will inherit the answers given in the initial questionnaire, which can then be edited as required.  

Does FC Documents store versions of my questionnaires?

Yes, a new version of a questionnaire is created each time the documents are downloaded or emailed. It is possible to open, review and download/email documents from a previous version of a questionnaire, but it is not possible to edit an old version.  

How do I know if the questionnaire or underlying documents have been updated by FromCounsel?

There is a banner notification within the questionnaires which alerts users if additional questions have been added, questions have been removed or conditions have been changed. 

We also circulate regular updates in relation to key changes to the drafting of the underlying templates via the daily FC News bulletins. 

Can I obtain an FC Documents analytics/usage report?

Yes - we can provide a user activity report on request.
